Lawmakers Lawbreakers

This is very late, in terms of chronology...

But I figured I'd close out the year with a review of my favorite new album -- Lady Gaga's Born This Way.

I only listened to it all the way through very recently, so that's kind of why this has taken so long to appear, and I can't stop coming up with songfic plots and such for half of these songs.  *sigh*  But anyway, here we are, taken track by track.

So, uh, overall, it's an awesome album.  I love how it puts itself on the edge and doesn't shy away from 'dangerous' topics like sexuality, feminism, politics, and religion, but she doesn't sacrifice her artistic vision for any of her views, either.  Fantastically put together, heavy in its content, and shot through with very danceable beats, Born This Way is a phenomenal third album.  I know I can't wait for either another single/video, or for her next album.  My top five tracks are:

1. "Bloody Mary"
2. "You and I"
3. "Marry the Night"
4. "Judas"
5. "Born This Way"

And I'd like to wish everyone a happy new year!

SPN fic post, since there's no new ep 'til January.

So, I joined comment_fic, which is an awesome place and is keeping my muse alive and well (thank you, dark and unintentionally dark prompts alike!).  And I came up with a lot of fic.  There's like, a lot.  So I'm going to organize it all by pairing and place it under various cuts.  But, flist, if this is still annoyingly long, please tell me and I'll break it up into separate posts and I'll space out the posts some.

Now, for the fics.  Please note that certain fics contain spoilers for S7, and one of them contains a spoiler from 7x10 (that fic being the Team Free Love fic considerably down the page).

Okay, now, onto fic info -- I'm currently getting my BB Mixup fic ready.  I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to change and be canon-compliant up through this episode or not.  Probably not.  But yeah, the BB Mixup fic is a darkfic.  I'm calling it Of Monsters and Men, and the mix is brilliant.

The fic is basically about what happens after Sam is kidnapped by Leviathans and Cas returns to Dean.  There is dubcon and smut and references to torture and on page torture and all sorts of psychological horror and drama and angst.  Pairings in point are Dean/Cas, Sam/Lucifer, and Sam/Cas, and there may be intimations of never-consummated Wincest.  This fic is going to be kind of epic in length, and I feel really nervous.  I put an ad out on spn_beta, though, so I think I'll get something soon enough.
FUUUUCK!!

GRAAAAAAAAGH!

I would like to state that I despise MLA format.  I also despise the War of the Roses.  It took me half an hour to find a credible source on when they started and ended.

Damnit, I just want to write an analytic paper on Richard III as a character so I can submit it with my college application to my top-choice school.  I have two days to write this bastard, and is it really too much just to get this to work?  Fucknuggets.

Also, ridic. behind on the NaNo novel.  But I'm still trying.

Because I believe in free speech and equality for the world...

I just found out about this on the NaNoWriMo Teen forum's LGBTQ+ thread, and had to post it here:

I just added my voice to this urgent appeal, standing for human rights in Russia and all over the world. Medvedev and Putin's party is pushing a law to vote this week that would make any mention of lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender issues illegal.

The bill, which has now been scheduled for a vote on November 30, would criminalize any book, article or speech about sexual identity and gender orientation, labeling it "homosexual propaganda". This is outrageous, and now is the time for key world leaders to speak up, we need every voice.

Will you take a minute to add yours?

The world needs to know that the LGBTQA community exist and they can't just shove us into a corner and pretend we're not there. That's what a little kid does to his toys.
Please, please add yourself to the petition -- if there's anything I've believed in all my life, it's free speech, no matter who you are or where you're from.

on a much more fandom-y note...

I ganked a meme from verecunda!
EDIT: GAME OVER, AND THANKS TO aqua_zephyrus, scraplove, tigriswolf, and verecunda FOR PLAYING.

1. Think of up to 20 ships you support.

2. List them using descriptions of the characters involved rather than their names.

3. Have your f-list guess as many of the ships as they can.

FUUUUCK!!

Holy crap, is this real life?

Okay, so, like any consciencious constituent offended by the presence of a bill, I sent an email to one of my Senators about SOPA and PIPA.  I figured that that would be all, since I'm one seventeen-year-old with one voice, and he's, y'know, a Senator.

I got a response.

I seriously got a response.  And he was very, very logical and very, very good at explaining to me the rationale behind PIPA.  The basis is good, but I'm not sure how good it will be in practice.  Plus, I don't have the actual text of the act to analyze, so I'm not sure what the inevitable pork contains.

Still, this is how representative democracy is supposed to work.  My faith in government isn't entirely gone.  Just mostly.

I'm a little shocked and really, really pleased.  I mean, I got a response for my angry letter to my Senator.  And i don't even vote yet.

Crap, this is so cool.
